Orama Update #5: Fifty Shades of Growth
Welcome to the Orama Newsletter. I’m George, Founder/Producer at Orama, and this is a short monthly newsletter mainly for clients and partners, with two goals:
Share thoughts & insights about the world of brand video and podcasting
Keep you in the loop with the latest developments.
A general update and a product update are below, corresponding to each of those goals.
You're on the list, but if you don’t want to receive it anymore, you can unsubscribe at the end of this email or click here. And if you share it with a colleague, they can subscribe here👇🏼
General Update
I had the chance to catch up with many of you last December about your content-related goals for the new year.
What struck me is that ‘growth’ can mean many different things.
Of course, it’s nice for everyone to have more views, more subscribers, etc., but if you look at it closer, growth takes many different shapes and shades.
Without going into specifics, here are some examples:
Help and delight existing customers
Strengthen relationships with commercial partners
Provide more value to sponsors
Convince more students to join a course
Educate your target audience
This has also prompted me to re-think about our ‘growth’ for the content we create for others (that’s Orama) and our own (InvestOrama). In both cases, it’s about going deeper instead of broader, emphasizing value instead of scale.
For InvestOrama, it means prioritizing resonance over reach to fulfil the mission to empower investors (of all types) to navigate the new investment landscape.
For Orama, that means aligning further with our clients' goals (see above) and tailoring our offer to their specific goals (see above). In doing so, Generative AI will play a key role. In 2023, we set it up mainly for scale. In 2024, I think the key will be to automate further what can be automated to have more resources for tailored solutions requiring craftsmanship. I will expand further on that in upcoming updates, but it’s also something that I hope will be noticeable in our interactions.
To continue with the tradition of including movie trailers and scenes started last year, here’s the one for Fifty Shades of Grey. I haven’t watched it, but I know its reputation. I hope it doesn’t fall into the NSFW category - sorry, but I needed it for the title.
Product Update
For all future podcasts and video interviews, we will include:
Automated transcriptions
Timestamps (AI-generated and manually checked) as a standard. This was the most requested feature in a series of conversations.
If you’re not familiar with them, for raw interviews, timestamps can provide a structure that allows you to scroll through the content faster, a bit like chapters in a book.
When copied into a YouTube description, they automatically create what YouTube also calls Chapters. You can click on them to navigate through the video (example).
