Welcome to the Orama Newsletter newsletter now called DisContent, with a podcast and YouTube channel attached. I’m George, Founder/Producer at Orama, and this is a monthly newsletter with two goals:
Build in public and share thoughts & insights about the world of video and podcasting for brands
Keep you in the loop with the latest offers & developments at Orama.
You're on the list, but if you don’t want to receive it anymore, you can unsubscribe at the end of this email or click here. And if you want to share it with a colleague, they can subscribe here:
It’s an AI world - we’re just editing in it.
I feel there are too many emails about AI, so I’ve refrained from sending my own but it’s everywhere we work at Orama. Here are a few examples that have changed dramatically in the last few years, and maybe it’s not AI, it’s tech or automation, but you get the idea.
Transcription services that used to cost a few dollars per minute are now almost free.
Removing the background from an image could take up to 30 minutes of manual work - now it’s done in one click.
Creating chapters for a long video or podcast, which used to require going through the whole content, is now automated.
But it’s only achieving 90% accuracy - the transcription, background removal or chapters will not be as good as those created through dedicated manual labour.
If loading, prompting, sharing etc requires 10% of the work and delivers 90% of the output, the bulk of the work of professional editors is improving the AI output and bringing it as close as possible to 100%
As a consequence, the role of professional editors is evolving
Towards:
AI prompting or AI engineering
Focussing on creativity and quality control
Curating and integrating AI/tech resources
And it’s a good time to be a brand that creates podcasts/videos:
Easier access to a broader range of integrated services
Cheaper access to basic services
But … if everyone can produce video and audio content professionally, it will become increasingly hard to stand out in a B2B niche (see my previous post about standing out).
With all that in mind, we’ve refreshed and standardized our pricing for producing podcasts
Introducing a new “Lite” editing version, aimed at solopreneurs and small brands
Enriching our standard “White Glove” offering with additional services
Introducing an “Everything you will ever need” plan, from booking guests to developing growth strategies
Below is a preview of how it will look.
Prices are in GBP per episode (ex-VAT) and paid monthly unless it’s a one-off. For weekly plans, the monthly amount is 4x weekly cost - so you pay for 48 episodes but there are 52 weeks (you get 4 weeks free).
This is a refresh on our current core offering
And here’s the all-encompassing Tier 3. We’re keen to expand the services further. so we’re looking forward to feedback on what other services could be needed.
Next: I’m gathering some “fun” podcast and video stats that I will share with you + an interview about creating B2B Fintech blog posts that actually generate leads.
